The EHS girls’ x-country team finished a solid week of training this past Friday at the Sleepy Hollow Inn and Resort in Huntington, VT. After many years of traveling to Acadia Maine, this marked the first summer the running camp was held on a more local scale. With cool rainy weather for most of the week, and even marble sized hail on Monday, the 20 athletes still managed to log in lots of time in running shoes. Lodging at the Inn inside a stable structure definitely helped this cause (No flooded tents!) With lots of hills and rugged single track trails, Sleepy Hollow offered a training experience different from what most of the runners were used to. However, after a week that included distance runs, hill repeats, and a moderate intensity run, the team became much more comfortable on the technical terrain. Aside from the running portion, the week also included Wednesday’s trip into Burlington for an afternoon on the beach and an evening on Church Street. This provided a change of pace for the runners with lots of free time to shop, roam, and eat. Runners present at camp representing the Nordic crew included Emilie McDonald, Ellie Pinto, Emma Redel, Margaret Caron, and Chloe Lemmel-Hay.
