Hello and welcome Nordic skiers!
Our 2016 season is almost underway and I wanted to touch on a few items that will help get everyone up to speed.
- Physicals, parental consent, and contract. These need to be up to date, on file with the EHS nurse’s office, and completed in order for you to practice starting Monday 11/16.
- Equipment - Check the equipment page of the blog. It covers the equipment that you’ll need and the outdoor clothing that you’ll want.
- The Trapp family lodge ski swap is on Saturday, November 21 it will be a great place to pick up boots, classic skis, skate skis, poles, and outdoor gear at discounted prices. Here’s the link: http://www.trappfamily.com/activities-calendar.aspx?category=-1&date=11/21/2015&display=event&eventid=270753
- Other ski swaps, check out this link: http://www.skimaven.com/post/its-ski-swap-time-heres-the-list-of-2015-vermont-ski-swaps/.
- Ski-rack in Burlington and Onion river sports in Montpelier are good places to get advice on boots, classic skis, skate skis, and poles. Keep in mind that buying new equipment is a significant financial outlay. Ski swaps tend to have much cheaper equipment than stores.
- For practice next week, bring your classic poles. If you don’t have classic poles, bring alpine skiing poles. We’ll use these in practice for bounding.
- Fundraising, be prepared to engage in a fundraising blitz. We have a narrow fundraising window before the holiday season and the harder we hit the fundraising, the better the team will be set for extra waxes and equipment.
- Parent emails- Please have your parents send me their email address if they haven’t already. This will allow me to contact them with meet specifics and for volunteering at meets. My email address is bdrew@ccsuvt.org
See you Monday!
Mr. Drew
